I wonder if Konami cheaped out and went with some no-name company to provide compact discs for this particular game?Įh, maybe "exploration" is the wrong word.
#CONTRA REBIRTH DISC PS2#
I have a number of PS2 CDs, and while some of them are quite noisy when they spin, this is the only time I've needed tape to get one to work. I guess the problem is some PS2 discs are too light for them to work properly. Well, I did that, and now it works like a dream. All you have to do is put some electrical tape on the disc to make it heavier (preferably equal amounts on both sides, so the disc doesn't get unbalanced when its spinning). The damn thing just would not boot, so, now I figure I'm going to have to make the 20 mile trip back to Gamestop to exchange/return it, but, as a last ditch idea, I checked out some FAQs on GameFAQs, and, sure enough, a lot of other people had the same problem. Well, a few days later, I popped it back in my PS2-disc read error again. The games soundtrack was composed by Manabu Namiki, who worked on the other titles in the ' ReBirth ' series. So, fine, I put the game back in the case, and put it aside for several days to play some of the other games I bought.

When I first tried it out, I got a 'disc read error' message and nasty sounds from my PS2, so, I took the disc out, cleaned it, and presto, it worked and I played it for an hour or so. Did anybody else have to put tape on their PS2 Contra: Shattered Soldier disc to get it to work? I recently bought it from the local Gamestop.
